A-Level and Pre-University Programmes

The school offers University of Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE) programmes at “O” & “A” Levels in association with the British Council-Leventis Foundation.Advanced level (“A” level) examinations are generally the minimum entry requirement for students wishing to enroll by direct entry at a university in the United Kingdom and all other countries including Nigeria .

Our students have automatic admission into two foreign universities and one Nigerian university that we have linkage arrangements with. These are the University of Witts Waterstrand and Midrand University in South Africa and in Nigeria , our sister institution— Lead City University , Ibadan .

The “O” level is required for concessionary entry or entrance examination into our universities. WASC, SSCE/GCE or NECO already serve as entries to the Cambridge “O” Level. The examinations are usually written in May/June and November/December. There is no prescribed restriction to entry for “A” level examination except that you cannot register for the same subject at “O” & “A” levels at the same time.

Who should consider “A” Level?

1. Students wishing to transfer or study abroad: Many prospective students are now considering the option of studying abroad. The Cambridge “O” & “A” levels provide solid prerequisite for entry to overseas and local universities.

2. Students wishing to complete their education with international standards:

Cambridge “A” level has become a yardstick for measurement for pre-tertiary academic standards internationally.

Thus our students can complete their education in Nigeria and still be in line with international standards.

3 Students requiring a bridging year to prepare for university: Many students find that they are inadequately equipped to cope with university studies when they leave high school. This is, perhaps, highlighted by the high rate of first-year failure that is experienced in many Nigerian and foreign universities. Moreover, many highly brilliant students do complete their High School at ages still considered “tender” by certain universities with minimum age requirement for entrants. For these and other reasons, the “A” level programme provides an answer. It allows students to mature and develop the interactive, social and communication skills essential for academic success in the more complex university environment.
